Through the Looking Glass...to Hardcore

You know Darlings, in life motto's can get you very far.

When all seems dreary and  impossible a few simple phrases muttered under your breath can get one through with an impressive amount of class.

One saying I've always liked ( and which always seems so applicable) is 'Fake it till you make it'.

Easy to understand and easy to dismiss.

Yeah sure, when you're feeling like crap getting all prettied up will make all your problems dissapear like a wave of a fairy godmother's wand.

Not.

However when you're feeling a little unsure of how to present yourself in the world, when you start your day and wonder just what to wear...

I've found a really good solution is to go hardcore.

Deep breath, close your eyes, dive in.

It's easy to play safe - t-shirt, jeans, jacket - rinse repeat, I know...I was there for a very long time.

What's not easy is wearing a bright jacket, shocking heels, mixing prints and being bold.

Being bold means all the attention's on you and you can't hide if you make any mistakes or look the tiniest bit silly.

But you know what else it means Darlings?

It means a special thrill, a pride in knowing you're unique, a wildness that lets everyone know where you stand.

I'm still learning and growing, becoming a little more glamorous everyday and one thing I've come to realize is in my mind the fantasy world on the other end of the looking glass is there.

The superchic super-amazing me that lies on the other end of the looking glass is my future...and when I get there...well Darlings you'll be the first to know.

For now, I'm going to fake it a little while longer and have a sick amount of fun while I learn.

So for now...I'm going hardcore.

Wish me luck Darlings, this is a special kind of incognito Wicked

Confessions of a Shopaholic

Time for another confession darlings, I think you've heard this one before.

There was a point in my life where my fashion sense sucked, I mean really sucked. I'm sure I have some old pictures somewhere but well...I want you to respect me in the morning.

The point being...I didn't grow up glamorous overnight by any measure and right till the end of high school the best I could manage was pulling it all together for special occassions. On my part I blame the school system, the best personal fashion expression I could do on a daily basis was big earrings - which I did.

Point being, I always loved fashion, always loved the excess and shininess of it all but personally could never pull it off on a daily basis.

I'm proud to say, I think anyway, with some time I figured out how to manage daily fabulousness and got a huge boost of confidence because of it. No more of that 'gosh she looks so pretty and I look so blah'. No more!

(Don't worry this is all leading up to a point) Which is why I love the new movie coming out 'Confessions of a Shopaholic' with Isla Fisher.  It's giving me those same pre-movie excitement shivers  'The Devil Wears Prada' did.

I think there's something fun about reliving that moment we all fell in love with fashion as told in the opening credits 'the magical cards' 'falling in love with a store' 'feeling beautiful and happy'. There is definately a certain high I get and I'm sure so many of you do when you enter a store and the lights hit the colors and the music's great and you see this glorious sign alerting you that there's a sale...in about a minute I'm going to need a cigarette, lol.

In any case I can't wait for this movie to come out, and see some of our experiences lived out (in much funnier detail). After all who hasn't gone a little overboard and died when they saw their credit card statement? Who hasn't had to quickly sink or swim or in our modern times ebay like hell?

Who hasn't had to get into an old school shanking match with an ice block to get their credit card? ...No one? Just me? Well...ah...anyway go see this movie when it comes out! I know we'll just love it darlings.

Promises! Wicked
